A unique oasis surrounded by vineyards and mountains.
The huge pool is accessed by a 5 minute walk and is in a large area that hosts up to 400 people for banquets. It is difficult for the staff to keep up with the leaves and pollen falling into the pool so it's appearance is not very welcoming. They were busy cleaning the pool on our day of arrival. The water is clean and refreshing. The pool area would benefit from more lounge chairs and seating. There are large change rooms and washrooms. There are plans to build a smaller pool for guests who are staying at the Hacienda. That would be a wonderful addition to what they offer as the current set up does not allow for a quick return to your room.
This Hacienda is an elegant and authentic home dating from the 18th and 19th century. It is still run by the original family. As such it has a grand salon with exquisite antiques and paintings, and a dining room with a table that would seat 18-20 people. You can choose to heave dinner served in the dining room with beautiful sterling silver and fine china or on the lovely terrace. The central courtyard is a lush green environment. There are extensive gardens around the property with beautiful roses everywhere. The food is well prepared and of a very high quality. The service was very friendly and helpful. Our room was a lovely oasis with a replica Lou's XIV bed and comfortable big chairs. We were very fortunate to have met the owner's wife who gave us a personal tour of the Chapel which is truly a hidden gem. The Hacienda was damaged during the most recent earthquake and was closed for 3 years for restoration work. The rooms and main buildings have been exquisitely restored to their former glory.
